SMTP Setup

Before sending notifications via email, the system needs to know about the SMTP server that is sending the emails.

The SMTP server can be internal or external to your organization, however, it must allow forwarding of emails to your users.

The SMTP server is typically the same server that users set in their email application to send email.

You will need to enter the settings for the SMTP provider that you intend to use.

Below we have listed down some of the SMTP settings of some popular Email service providers for your convenience. 

Office 365

  • Host: smtp.office365.com
  • User Name: Your full email address that is configured to use Office365 (example@example.com)
  • Password: Your password configured for the chosen email address.
  • Encryption Type: STARTTLS
  • SMTP Port: 587

Gmail

  • Host: smtp.gmail.com
  • User Name: Your Gmail address
  • Password: Your Gmail password
  • Port Number: 587 (With TLS)
  • Alternative Port Number: 465 (With SSL)

Outlook.com

  • Host: smtp-mail.outlook.com
  • Username: Your full Outlook.com address (example@outlook.com)
  • Password: Your Outlook.com password
  • Encryption Type: STARTTLS
  • Port Number: 587

Mailgun

  • Host: smtp.mailgun.net
  • User Name: Full email address configured in Mailgun (postmaster@example.com)
  • Password: Your apikey
  • Port Number: 587 (With TLS)
  • Alternative Port Number: 465 (With SSL)

SendGrid

  • Host: smtp.sendgrid.net
  • User Name: Your apikey username
  • Password: Your apikey Password
  • Port Number: 587 or 25 or 2525 (With TLS)
  • Alternative Port Number: 465 (With SSL)

Windows Mail (Mail.Com)

  • Host: smtp.mail.com
  • User Name: Your Mail.Com address (for example, example@mail.com)
  • Password: Your Mail.Com password
  • Port: 587
  • Use SSL: Yes

AOL

  • Host: smtp.aol.com
  • User Name: Your AOL address (for example, example@aol.com)
  • Password: Your AOL password
  • Port Number: 587 (With TLS)
  • Alternative Port Number: 465 (With SSL)

Yandex

  • Host: smtp.yandex.com
  • User Name: Your Yandex Mail address (e.g. whatever comes before @yandex.com)
  • Password: Your Yandex Password
  • Port Number: 465 (With SSL/TLS)

Zoho

  • Host: smtp.zoho.com
  • User Name: Your Zoho Mail address (e.g. whatever comes before @zohomail.com)
  • Password: Your ZOHO Mail password
  • Port Number: 465 (With SSL/TLS)

Yahoo

  • Host: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
  • User Name: Your full Yahoo address (example@yahoo.com)
  • Password: Your Yahoo password
  • Port Number: 465
  • TLS/SSL Required: Yes

Hotmail

  • Host: smtp.live.com
  • Username: Your full Hotmail.com address (example@hotmail.com)
  • Password: Your Hotmail.com password
  • Encryption Type: STARTTLS
  • Port Number: 587

GMX

  • Host: mail.gmx.com
  • User Name: Your GMX address (for example, example@gmx.com)
  • Password: Your GMX password
  • Port Number: 465
  • Use SSL: Yes

iCloud

  • Host: smtp.mail.me.com
  • User Name: Your iCloud address (for example, example@icloud.com)
  • Password: Your iCloud password
  • Port: 587
  • Use SSL: Yes

Rediff Pro / Rediffmail

  • Host: smtp.rediffmailpro.com
  • User Name: Your RediffMail address (for example, example@rediffmail.com)
  • Password: Your RediffMail password
  • Port: 587
  • Use SSL: Yes

Verizon

  • Host: smtp.verizon.net
  • User Name: Your Verizon address (for example, example@verizon.net)
  • Password: Your Verizon password
  • Port: 465
  • Use SSL: Yes

Zoho Mail

  • Host: smtp.zoho.com
  • User Name: Your Zoho address (for example, example@zoho.com)
  • Password: Your Zoho password
  • Port: 465
  • Use SSL: Yes
